Florida Points Suspension and License Reinstatement Information
Florida publishes rules for some suspensions involving accumulated points or repeat violations. The applicable period and any next step depend on the state's record, so use this page as general source-backed information and confirm against the current official record.
General information only. This page does not review your record, decide which category applies, or select a form or provider.
What are the published Florida requirements for points and repeat violations?
FL points thresholds (Fla. Stat. §322.27(3)): 12 pts / 12 mo → 30-day susp; 18 pts / 18 mo → 3-mo susp; 24 pts / 36 mo → 1-yr susp. Standard points reinstatement is administrative -: serve the suspension period → pay ~$75 reinstatement fee + $6.25 service + license fees at a DL service center, OR reinstate online at mydmvportal.flhsmv.gov. No course required for standard full reinstatement (the 12-hr ADI course is only for a hardship/early permit during the suspension, or for HTO reinstatement). No SR-22 for standard points.
⚠ HTO (Habitual Traffic Offender) is a SEPARATE PATH - handled by the intake status gate (attorney referral). Per Fla. Stat. §322.264, an HTO designation = 15 point-bearing moving-violation convictions in 5 yrs OR 3 major offenses in 5 yrs (DUI / DWLS-with-knowledge / motor-vehicle felony / hit-and-run) → 5-YEAR LICENSE REVOCATION (not suspension); driving as HTO is a 3rd-degree felony. Reinstatement is discretionary + heavy: 12-mo wait → BAR petition/hearing for hardship (fitness/need investigation); full reinstatement only after 5 yr with 12-hr ADI course + $150 fee + FR-44 + retaking written/road-signs/driving exams. Kept here for reference; HTO drivers are intercepted at intake and routed out, not down this row.
⚠ Recent law: "Isaiah's Law" (ch. 2026-53, eff. 7/1/2026) adds no-valid-license (NVDL) convictions to the HTO trigger list. Planning to re-verify HTO conditions periodically.
Published fee information
